Rest Gather Renew
Where a century-old schoolhouse has been reimagined for peace and rejuvenation.

Where a century-old schoolhouse has been reimagined for peace and rejuvenation.
The Greenwood Retreat Center was born out of a gift and a vision. In 2016, Bill and Lucille Sapp of Ashland generously donated the historic Old Greenwood School building to Valor Christian Academy and One Whole Heart Ministry. Since then, the building has been lovingly restored and used for missionary housing and ministry gatherings. On the grounds, we've shared a community garden we called "God's Seeds". (Picture left)
Today, we’re excited to share this gem of a building with the broader community through the Greenwood Retreat Center—a place designed for rest, renewal, and connection. The upper level now includes two residences: one serving as the Retreat Center, and the other as the on-site host’s home. Guests are also welcome to join in the weekly Saturday evening worship held in the first residence.
With Phase 1 of the renovation complete, we now look ahead to Phase 2—opening a community coffee shop on the main floor and restoring the original gym and stage. Soon, we hope to offer this space for weddings, reunions, and larger community events, continuing the legacy of life and fellowship that began here over a century ago.

The Greenwood Ministry & Retreat Center building is being made ready as a safe haven, a place where people can come when the storms of life and the world grow stronger -
a place of worship, a place of rest, and a place of refuge.
We are in the midst of a capital campaign to raise $200k for the next phase of renovations to include the main and lower level, as well as the addition of a deck for the Retreat Center. We would greatly value any amount of tax-deductible giving towards this mission.
